Guardian of the Inner Realm – Unknown Artist, Belgian School, 1960s–1970s. Mixed Media on Canvas. This monumental abstract-figurative composition depicts an elongated, frontal human figure constructed through powerful black linear structures and fragmented geometric planes. The face emerges from a dense network of angular lines and layered textures, combining cubist fragmentation with expressive symbolism.
Metallic gold and silver tones introduce a luminous, icon-like presence, evoking sacral and Byzantine visual traditions, while the dominant black contours impose a strong graphic authority over the composition. The symmetrical vertical structure, piercing eyes, and elongated proportions create an archetypal figure that transcends individual identity, functioning instead as a symbolic presence.
