Description
A refined mid-century cylindrical vase from Flora Gouda Holland, model "Madrid". The piece features a high-gloss, multitone glaze in warm, earthy golden/yellow-brown hues with subtle colour variation and a satiny sheen. The simple, architectural cylinder form is classic Gouda plateel—sculptural yet domestic—and the dense, glossy glaze highlights the hand-finished surface. This vase makes a bold, timeless accent in both vintage and contemporary interiors.
Flora (Plateelbakkerij Flora) was one of the recognized Gouda potteries producing decorative plateel and vases in the Netherlands during the mid-20th century; Flora pieces are commonly found under the marks "Flora Gouda Holland" and were produced in many decorative series, including the Madrid series. Sources and marketplace listings place Madrid pieces in the mid-century production run (variously dated in different listings between the 1950s and 1970s).
