Description

Exceptional large oval porcelain serving platter in the China Aster pattern, produced by Minton, England, late 19th century. This branded platter is decorated in rich cobalt blue on a white ground using transferware, featuring stylised floral motifs arranged rhythmically along the rim and central field. The platter is notable for its monumental size and refined Victorian ornament, reflecting Minton’s high standards in decorative tableware intended for both domestic use and formal presentation. Condition: No visual damage, stable hairline crack, not through; structurally sound with age-related wear. Founded in Stoke-on-Trent, Minton was one of England’s most prestigious porcelain manufacturers. The China Aster pattern belongs to Minton’s late-Victorian production, combining fashionable East Asian–inspired floral design with industrially advanced transfer printing. Large-format serving pieces like this were produced in smaller numbers and are especially sought after today. Dimensions: Length 53 Width 42 Height 4,5 cm.
