Kavel 311-120-223-PL-PPR: Brutalist Brass Pendant Lamp, Model 6407 by Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen for Holm Sørensen, Denmark, 1960s
This exceptional brutalist pendant lamp, model 6407, was
designed by Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen for Holm
Sørensen, Denmark, during the 1960s. The lamp is crafted
entirely from brass and features a highly expressive, sculptural
form. The shade consists of layered cylindrical elements with
irregular, organically burned edges, achieved through a process of
cutting and welding the metal. The raw, flame-like contours reveal
warm copper tones beneath the brass surface, creating a dramatic
contrast and emphasizing the lamp’s handcrafted, brutalist
character. When illuminated, the lamp produces a rich, atmospheric
glow, with light reflecting off the textured metal and glowing
subtly through the cut edges. The result is a powerful yet intimate
lighting effect, making the piece both a functional light source
and a striking sculptural object. This model exemplifies
Holm-Sørensen’s experimental approach to materials and
form, and stands as a strong example of mid-century Scandinavian
brutalism. The lamp is in a very well preserved vintage condition.
The brass shows natural patina and surface variations consistent
with age and the brutalist manufacturing process. As with all
vintage seating, they may show light signs of use, which add to
their authentic character.

Kavel 311-122-DO-021: Vintage Postmodern Stainless Steel Cooler with Tripod Feet - Alessi Style. Europe, 1980s
Sculptural stainless steel cooler / ice bucket in a playful postmodern design, featuring a rounded conical body pierced with stylised geometric human figures around the rim. The piece stands on three brass conical feet, giving it a light, architectural presence. The combination of polished steel, graphic cut-outs and brass tripod base strongly recalls Italian design language of the 1980s, particularly work associated with Alessi, though this example is unmarked and not attributed to Alessi. It’s in Good vintage condition; surface wear and patina consistent with age, structurally sound. European manufacture, circa 1980s. The humorous figurative cut-outs and mixed-metal construction place this firmly within late-modern / postmodern domestic design, a period influenced by Italian radical design but widely interpreted by other European makers.
