Kavel 311-058-PF020-S3: Seated Nudy signed by Daron. Mixed media on canvas. 1970s
Seated Nudy signed by Daron. Mixed media on canvas. 1970s. This large-scale figurative painting, signed “Daron”, represents a typical example of European studio practice from the 1970s. Executed in mixed media on canvas, the work depicts a seated female nude rendered in bold primary colors, including yellow, red, blue, and green.
The figure is defined by strong black contour lines, while areas of shading appear to be executed with a wax-based medium, possibly oil pastel or crayon, resulting in a dry, graphic surface texture. The woman’s blue hair creates a striking contrast with the surrounding color fields, reinforcing the emphasis on flat color, simplified form, and direct figuration.
The construction of the work suggests a collage-like process: the nude figure appears to have been painted separately, cut out, and subsequently applied onto a painted red and green background. This layered approach reflects an experimental but informal working method characteristic of the period.
The composition remains firmly figurative and decorative in nature, prioritizing visual immediacy over conceptual depth. While the work shows period-specific stylistic traits and material experimentation, it does not present the level of technical refinement or compositional complexity associated with academically trained or widely recognized artists.
Signed but otherwise undocumented, the painting stands as a modest, period-typical example of 1970s figurative mixed-media painting.Dimensions Visual: Height 100 Width 80 cm.
