Tuscany' signed by Dick Nijzink, acrylic on canvas, The Netherlands, 1993. This large-scale painting titled Toscane was created in 1993 by Dutch artist Dick Nijzink. The work presents an abstract interpretation of the Tuscan landscape, immediately recognizable through its rolling hills and the rhythmic presence of cypress trees, a defining motif of the region.
Nijzink employs flowing, gestural lines and harmoniously layered color fields to evoke the undulating terrain of Tuscany. Rather than focusing on literal representation, the artist translates the landscape into a dynamic composition of movement and color. The brushwork is confident and fluid, conveying a sense of light, warmth, and spatial depth through painterly abstraction.
Dick Nijzink is known for his expressive style and vibrant use of color, often working within the boundary between abstraction and landscape. His paintings frequently explore atmosphere and emotional resonance, drawing inspiration from natural environments while maintaining a distinctly personal visual language. His work has been presented through galleries and art rental institutions, reflecting steady recognition within the Dutch contemporary art scene.
The square format and substantial scale of this painting enhance its visual impact, making it a strong statement piece suitable for both private and public interiors. Kavel 311-229-PF031-S3: Street Scene in Quito by Mario Ronquillo, Oil on Canvas, Ecuador, 1970s.
Street Scene in Quito by Mario Ronquillo, Oil on Canvas, Ecuador, 1970s. This oil painting by Ecuadorian artist Mario Ronquillo depicts an urban street scene believed to be set in Quito, capturing a moment of everyday life within a historic architectural setting. Framed by an arched passageway, the composition opens onto a sunlit street populated by figures moving through a modest neighborhood environment.
Ronquillo employs a loose, confident brushwork, using swift, expressive strokes to suggest figures, buildings, and spatial depth rather than defining them in detail. Light plays a central role in the painting, illuminating façades and streets while contrasting with shaded architectural elements beneath the arch. The clear blue sky and warm tonal palette contribute to a vivid, lively atmosphere.
The work reflects a figurative approach rooted in observation and immediacy, emphasizing daily life and urban rhythm over narrative specificity. Such street scenes are characteristic of mid-20th-century Latin American painting, where artists often combined local subject matter with an accessible, painterly style.
Born in Ecuador in 1943, Mario Ronquillo developed a visual language centered on everyday scenes, urban life, and architectural environments. His work is representative of a broader post-war figurative tradition in Latin American art, valued primarily for its atmosphere, spontaneity, and decorative appeal rather than for conceptual ambition.
This painting stands as a pleasant and approachable example of mid-20th-century Ecuadorian figurative painting, offering insight into daily urban life through a lively and informal painterly execution. Dimensions Frame: Height 51 Width 42 cm. Visual: Height 38 Width 29 cm.

Vibrant Floral Composition with Layered Blossoms and Expressive Brushwork, Oil on Canvas by Unknown Artist, 1960s. This floral still life presents a rich and expressive composition, centered on a bouquet of flowers arranged loosely within the picture plane. The flowers are rendered in a vibrant palette dominated by warm reds, pinks, yellows, and soft whites, contrasted against cooler blues and greens in the background.
The composition feels dynamic rather than static: blossoms overlap and extend outward, creating depth and movement. The painter uses broad, confident brushstrokes, allowing colors to blend organically while retaining enough structure to distinguish individual petals and stems. Rather than focusing on botanical precision, the work emphasizes atmosphere and painterly expression.
The background is treated more freely, with visible brushwork and softened transitions that push the floral arrangement forward. Light appears to be diffused rather than directional, giving the painting an overall luminous quality. Subtle variations in tone and texture create visual rhythm across the surface.
The painting style can be described as expressive and decorative, balancing figurative recognizability with a loose, almost abstract handling of paint. The result is a lively and engaging floral composition that prioritizes color harmony, movement, and visual energy over strict realism. Dimensions Frame: Height 65 Width 85 cm. Visual: Height 47,5 Width 68 cm.
